Prep Pads Are Officially Gone—Here’s What to Use Instead

At La-Bek, we’ve always been about simple, salon-quality nails—without the fluff. And now, we’re proud to take that philosophy a step further by cutting back on the waste we generate, starting with something small but significant: single-use prep pads.

Why We’ve Removed Prep Pads

Prep pads may seem like no big deal, but here’s the reality:

  • They’re single-use

  • Sealed in plastic-coated foil packaging

  • And they’re not recyclable

That means every single pad ends up in landfill. And while it’s just a small piece of your nail routine, small things add up. So we made the decision to phase them out—and we’ve now officially run out. That’s right: no more prep pads in your La-Bek orders from here on out.

What You Can Use Instead

The great news? You don’t need a branded prep pad to get great results. In fact, many of our customers already prep their nails using what they have at home.

Here’s how to get your nails ready, the La-Bek way:

1. Remove any oils or residue
Use nail polish remover or Isocol (an alcohol-based cleanser) to gently wipe the nail surface.

You might need a cotton ball but unlike prep pads, they’re not wrapped in plastic-coated foil—and cotton breaks down much faster. Plus, a single bottle of remover will last you ages.

2. Wash + dry your hands
Give your hands a thorough wash with soap and warm water, then dry completely—no shortcuts here!

3. Push back your cuticles
This helps the strip seal properly and prevents lifting. Use a cuticle stick or pusher (we include one in your kit!).

That’s it. No prep pad required. No waste created.

Why It Matters

We’re proud to be one of the only semi-cured gel nail brands actively working toward low-waste beauty. Along with removing prep pads, we’re reducing excess packaging across our product line and have introduced a soft plastic Send Back Program to responsibly recycle what we can.

And we’re just getting started. Coming soon:
✨ Reusable nail tools
✨ A nourishing cuticle balm
✨ Washable cleansing pads—all with thoughtful, minimal packaging

Thank You for Growing With Us

We know change can feel unfamiliar, especially when it’s something small like a missing wipe. But we also know our community cares deeply about doing better—not just for your nails, but for the planet.

Thanks for being part of this shift toward sustainable, no-compromise nail care. Less waste. Same flawless results.

Let’s do better, together.
