Which LA-BEK Mani Is Right for You?
Your guide to choosing the perfect at-home gel manicure.
โSoโฆ whatโs the difference between semi-cured gel nails and UV-free gel nails?โ
Great question โ and we love that youโre curious.
Because the truth is: neither replaces the other.
They simply work differently and fit different moments of your life.
= Your โStrength + Longevityโ Mani
Semi-cured gel wraps are the LA-BEK classic โ the ones you know and love.
Theyโre made from real liquid gel thatโs 60% cured, so they feel soft and flexible when you apply them, then transform under your UV lamp into that strong, glossy, salon-style finish.
If your nails need a little extra support or you love long wear, this is your best friend.
Extra strength
Perfect for weak, bendy, or damaged nails. They add that little bit of structure that helps your nails grow.
Long-lasting wear
When applied with proper prep, semi-cured gel nails can take you through school lunches, workdays, workouts, dishes, and everything in between โ up to 2+ weeks.
Nail growth support
Because they harden on the nail, they act like a mini shield. Your nails get a chance to grow without splitting or catching.
Premium gel feel
You get that ultra-smooth, ultra-shiny, โdid-you-just-go-to-a-salon?โ finish.
= Your โFast + Flexibleโ Mani
Now letโs talk about the new kid on the block โ our UV-free gel nails.
These are made from real gel too, but theyโre fully cured during manufacturing, which means:
โจย No lamp needed.
โจย No curing step.
โจย No waiting.
โจ Just peel, press and flaunt.
Theyโre perfect for those moments when you want things quick, easy and fuss-free.
And best of all? Because the wraps are already cured, they stay stable inside the packet โ no risk of hardening or drying out. That means you can apply them absolutely anywhere.
A no-lamp option
Ideal for travelling, camping, staying at a hotel, or when the kids steal your lamp charger again (weโve all been there ๐ ).
Fashion flexibility
Match your nails to your outfit, your mood, or your plans โ without committing to a long wear time.
Low-maintenance beauty
A gorgeous mani without needing a full setup. A full mani in 5 minutes?
Yes please.
A great option for teens
Easy, mess-free, and gentle on young nails.
Hereโs our favourite part of this conversation.
Because we get to say: probably both.
Your nails should be able to change with you.
Maybe you love semi-cured for your โI need my nails to survive this weekโ moments.
And UV-free when youโre heading away for the weekend and want something quick and cute.
Our customers arenโt one-type-of-mani women โ and neither are we.
Life changes, moods change, plans changeโฆ
Your nails should be able to change with you.

We've collated a full list of all our most important FAQ's
Do I need a UV lamp?
For our semi-cured gel nails, yes, a UV LED lamp is what activates the gel and locks in that hard, salon-quality finish. Our UV-free gel wraps are fully cured during production, so no lamp needed. Just peel, press, and go.
Which one lasts longer?
Both are designed to last up to two weeks with proper prep. Our semi-cured strips are real gel that cures to a harder finish, so they can push past two weeks on well-prepped nails. UV-free wraps are best worn for 7โ10 days, making them ideal for shorter-term wear.
Which one is better for damaged or weak nails?
Semi-cured is the one for you. The gel cures to a firm shield over your natural nail, adding structure and strength as your nails grow. UV-free wraps offer flexible protection but aren't designed to add that same level of support.
Do I need a UV lamp?
Yes, for our semi-cured gel strips you'll need a UV lamp to cure them fully. It only takes 60 seconds. If you'd prefer no lamp at all, our UV-free gel wraps are a great option, though they're better suited to short-term wear (7โ10 days) rather than a full grow-out program.
Can I switch between the two?
Absolutely, a lot of our customers do. Semi-cured for everyday life and long wear, UV-free for travel, quick outfit changes, or weeks when you want something easy and lamp-free. Think of them as two different tools in your nail kit.
Which one is easier to apply?
Both are beginner-friendly, genuinely. UV-free is the faster option, no lamp, no curing step, done in around 10 minutes. Semi-cured takes a little longer (15โ20 mins) but the process is just as straightforward, and the payoff is that hard, glossy gel finish.
How do I remove them?
The same way for both โ always with cuticle oil, never by peeling. Apply oil around the edges, gently ease the strip away with the wooden stick, and your natural nails stay happy. Never pull or force them off dry.
